 | Boucle Dor et les Trois Ours | KS2 (Primary) Film making | The children have just performed this play at the CSD in front of a number of head teachers. The film was made to reinforce and consolidate the childrens French. I thought this will give them something to remember and at the same time, other children across the school would be enthused to learn the language. |
 | Control Technology | KS2 (Primary) Film making | Taken from ICT unit 5E Controlling Devices and Unit 6C Control and Monitoring, What happens when?
Chalkhill Primary year 5 students took part in the filming of a Control Technology Workshop at Preston Manor City Learning Centre. They first learnt about Control concepts and devices that use computer control such as washing machines, traffic lights and mobile phones.
Students learnt how to program using simple instructions then were given the challenge to program a Lego buggy to navigate through a maze. The tension, excitement and eventual triumph was captured on camera on what was an action packed and enjoyable day of learning and teamwork. |
 | Geography-Singapore | KS2 (Primary) Film making | Taken from Geography unit 16 Whats in the news? and unit 22 Contrasting locality overseas.
Preston Park year 5 students created a film looking at what it is like to live and work in Singapore. The idea revolved around the Evening News country focus feature.
Filming took place on a virtual TV news set using blue screen, and at various locations around the school and Preston Manor CLC where students had a chance to create mini dramas to illustrate their findings.
A lot of fun and excitement was had by all and we very much enjoyed having our school as a centre stage for multimedia work. |

 | Primary French | KS2 (Primary) Film making | This film was about the work covered in class. It was the first time French was taught at Brentfield which involved the Year Three Classes. I decided to make it cross curricular through fun and games. In the film one can observe the cross curricular links. For example:
- Tennis and skipping with the hoops helped the pupils to develop their physical skills as well as learning French words.
- Learning the months of the year and days of the week, which is also part of our maths curriculum.
- Counting from 1 to 10 in French. Pupils are not only learning new words but it is reinforcing their counting skills.
- Singing songs in French which they also learn to play on the recorder as part of their recorder programme. ( Music)
In addition, learning words of objects in the classroom and greetings means that they are able to use what they are learning on a day to day basis, which they do! For example, many children respond back in French during routine activities like taking the register, so the language becomes embedded in daily activities.
Positive outcomes:
One of my challenging pupils has become much less challenging since he has taken a leading role in the film. He has become more confident at reading in front of an audience, something he would never have done in the past.
Indeed, for all the EAL/SEN children, this has been an extremely positive experience, because the whole class has been on a level field, with everyone learning from the beginning.

 | Stomp | KS2 (Primary) Film making | STOMP has no words - everyone can understand it. It has little or no melody in the traditional sense, so it doesnt matter if your taste in music is jazz, classical, dance or pop. STOMP is about rhythm, which is common to all cultures. Everyone knows rhythm, if only from the beating of their own heart - it is the basis of all music.
In Year 5 we have been creating our own Stomp routines. We have been working in small groups to create our own performance, concentrating on the beat, and the control of our props.
